Responsibilities:
Operations & Compliance:
- Safely and efficiently manage the Steam and Gas department in accordance with provincial regulations.
- Ensure compliance with BC Technical Safety requirements for pressure vessel repairs, alterations, and installations.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for boiler house equipment.
- Oversee maintenance and operation strategies to enhance efficiency, energy conservation, and environmental performance.
Safety & Training:
- Lead safety programs, establish objectives, and track progress.
- Engage personnel in reviewing and modifying safe operating and lock-out procedures.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols by providing necessary training and tools.
Leadership & Maintenance Planning:
- Delegate responsibilities to Shift Engineers and Firemen to ensure safe operations.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead annual maintenance shutdowns, ensuring safe and efficient execution.
- Provide coaching and leadership to the team, fostering professional development.
Qualifications:
- Valid BC 1st Class Power Engineer Certificate (or a minimum of 6 exams completed towards certification).
- Strong knowledge of high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Ability to analyze utility systems and recommend cost-saving measures.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in a dynamic environment.
- A safety-first mindset with experience implementing safety programs.
- Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
