Job Summary
Responsible for project management of small to medium-sized Oil and Gas projects, working independently and/or in a managerial capacity. Also involved in coordinating engineering discipline functions and overseeing all technical aspects of assigned projects.



Responsibilities
Acting as Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer on assigned projects or feasibility studies.
May be responsible for all aspects of developing studies for small to medium sized projects.
Responsible for direct contact with client and project scoping according to client requests on assigned projects.
Responsible for the task assignment to the project team, distribute to various disciplines within and outside the company and coordinating the activities of the assigned engineering, drafting and design staff.
Coordinating with the various internal disciplines for initiation of performing complex engineering tasks including detailed calculations as required by the project.
Responsible for the development of the Project Charter, Project Design Basis Memorandum and execution plan, budgets, and schedules for small to medium sized projects.
Preparing basic design documents required by design engineering disciplines and equipment engineers for the performance of detailed engineering.
Preparing and maintaining the engineering control documents developed from the master project schedule.
Preparing engineering specifications for the project (i.e., equipment) with assistance from other project and design engineers.
Review, check and approve detailed engineering drawings & deliverables.
Engineering quality control to meet Company and Client quality standards.
Timely project reporting both internal and external (scheduling, cost control, progress reports etc.).
Maintain client liaison for assigned projects. This includes both internal and external clients as well as field interface during construction if required by project scope of work.
Manage outside supply of materials and services (i.e., compressor QC through inspectors).
General project management/engineering to meet budgeted project cost, schedule, safety, and quality targets.
Assist in the development and maintenance of company policies and engineering standards.
Assist in manpower planning by reviewing work commitments, work distribution and continuity through regular project review meetings.
Takes courses of action necessary to expedite the successful accomplishment of assigned projects.



Supervision Received
Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of other units. Work is carried out within defined guidelines; informed guidance is available.
Project Managers will report to their Account Manager as necessary.

Decision Making
Recommendations reviewed for soundness of judgment but usually accepted as technically accurate and feasible.
Higher level seniors make responsible decisions not usually subject to technical review on all matters assigned except those involved large sums of money or long-range objectives. Takes courses of action necessary to expedite the successful accomplishment of assigned projects.

Quality Control
Ensure the product produced meets quality requirements in terms of engineering competence, safety, specifications, and local requirements.
Ensure that the end product meets the QC needs of the client.
Work directly with the project group to determine quality standards for a project.
Ensure adherence to company engineering policies, procedures, and systems for the engineering group.



Core Competencies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all clients, both internal (at all levels of the organization) and external.
Competent understanding of Company/Client procedures and requirements for project cost control.
Proven ability to multi-task and efficiently respond to changing priorities.
Possesses a strong understanding of natural gas/heavy oil processing.
Exceptional ability to read and edit Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), Vendor equipment drawings.
Computer proficiency in MS Office, Bluebeam Revu.
Superior organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
Decision-making and problem-solving ability.
Previous experience at Engineering Procurement Construction Management (EPCM) company required.
Experience with software such as AspenTech, ProMax, Symmetry, Fisher Spec Manager considered an asset.
Experience in Capital Cost Estimating and Engineering Man hour estimating.
Assist with equipment procurement activities.
Experience with Bluebeam considered an asset.
Familiarity with ASME B31.3, B16.5, CSA Z662, AER D56, API 520/521.
Experience with environmental engineering projects such as wind power, solar power, biogas, water treatment or waste management projects is nice to have.



Education Qualifications
University or Technical institution graduate in Engineering or applied science or its equivalent with a minimum of 10 years of related working experience.
Registered as a P.Eng. in good standing with APEGA or registered with ASET as a T.T./C.E.T.

Salary
CAD $140,000 – $180,000 commensurate with experience.
