Comics Art Manager

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Art Manager to join our dynamic team in the world of comic book creation. As an Art Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the artistic direction, managing comics artists, and ensuring the visual quality and consistency of our comic book projects. This role requires a deep passion for comics, strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a keen eye for detail.

This is intended as a remote position. You will be collaborating with a multicultural studio working on two separate time zones. Please include a link to your portfolio in your resume or CV.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with writers, editors, and other stakeholders to establish the artistic vision and style for each comic project and their narrative goals.
• Manage comic artists while providing guidance, feedback, and support to artists to ensure they meet project deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.
• Conduct regular reviews of artwork to ensure adherence to established style guidelines, consistency across panels and pages, and overall visual excellence.
• Address challenges and resolve conflicts that may arise during the artistic development process and implement solutions to maintain project momentum and quality standards.
• Help facilitate communication between the various departments of the comics team to maintain a cohesive and efficient art production process.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and archiving systems for Art department materials, including meeting decisions and insights, pivots, risks, and resources.
• Assist the Comics Department Head in making comprehensive project plans and timelines for each comic, taking into account artistic requirements, deadlines, and resource allocation. Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.
• Aid the Comics Head to maintain the project backlog, tasks, roadmaps by collecting, managing, and following-up on the status of tasks with all comics artists.
• Report project risks and blockers to Comics Head when they occur.
• Aid in the creation of art assets when needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in art, Graphic Design, or related field.
• Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of artistic styles and projects.
• Strong passion for and knowledge of comics and the comic book industry.
• Proven project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Creative mindset and the ability to contribute innovative ideas to enhance the art process and storytelling.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software tools such as Adobe Creative Suite.
• Familiarity in graphic design is a plus.
• Familiarity with Click-Up is a huge plus.
