*Education and Experience:

  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program
  • Prior experience as a pharmacy technician
  • Preference for licensure/registration as a Pharmacy Technician

  • Ensure patient assessment and compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of equipment and facilities.
  • Verify compound drug details.
  • Provide patient education on healthcare products.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels.
  • Conduct routine inventory audits.
  • Deliver medications to institutional wards.
  • Generate reports for clinical service opportunities and patient care plans.
  • Additional duties as directed by the pharmacist.

Sandstone Glenmore Compounding Pharmacy is looking for a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Calgary, AB.

About Us:

We are a full-service compounding pharmacy providing sterile/non-sterile, hazardous and non-hazardous compounding services to pharmacies, veterinary clinics, and veterinary patients across Alberta.


Job Description:

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, and under the supervision of a pharmacist, this position will practice in collaboration with pharmacists to provide the best possible pharmacy services to our patients. The Pharmacy Technician’s primary role is to ensure prescriptions are filled correctly. The right medication gets to the patient, related administration, and managed inventory.

They will transcribe verbal orders, transfer prescriptions, and check on the technical aspects of the prescription. They will always exercise professional judgment and be able to recognize when the clinical expertise of a pharmacist is required.

Responsibilities:


Prepare compounded medications following established formulas, techniques, and safety protocols

Ensure the quality and potency of compounded medications

Maintain accurate and detailed records of compounding activities, including ingredients, formulations, lot numbers, and expiry of products


Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of compounding equipment

Work under direct and indirect supervision of pharmacists and supervise pharmacy assistants

Adhere to all compounding regulations including NAPRA standards and USP and USP Prepare and process prescriptions.


Other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.

Qualifications & Skills:

Completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician program.


Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP).

Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.


Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
