This posting is for one (1) Full-Time Temporary position ending on or before April 27, 2025

The Edmonton Police Service requires one (1) highly motivated candidate to fulfill complex support duties within the Police Information Access Branch and the Information Management and Compliance Branch. The incumbent’s primary focus is to provide administrative support to the divisional branches in their entirety. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the Inspector and/or Director’s calendars, booking meetings and appointments, including rescheduling as required.
  • Preparing agendas, taking minutes, providing correspondence, preparing reports and presentations, and other meeting related duties.

    Reviewing meeting minutes for content and prepare reports as required. Also providing research or history on past meetings, action items and decisions when required.
  • Answering any calls that are received within the Branches and either provide assistance/information as required, or if needed transfer the call to the appropriate party.
  • Liaising with the divisional administrative clerks to ensure timely and accurate responses to information requests and other forms of enquires. This would include follow up on Diary Dates, EPDP tracking and budget tracking, etc.
  • Responding to any emails received within the Branch and provide necessary information and/or follow-up with the appropriate party.
  • Ensuring that all correspondence and other activities for the Chief of Police, Chief’s Committee, Edmonton Police Commission, etc. contains the required information and has been prepared in the correct format prior to being submitted for the Director’s or Inspector’s approval.
  • Drafting Branch wide communications for review and approval by the Inspector/Director, prior to distribution.
  • Booking and managing training/travel arrangements for the Director, Inspector and/or Managers and Staff Sergeants.
  • Monitoring, collecting, and submitting PARS for Branch members not on CARM.

    Providing CARM support management by updating and changing when required.
  • Drafting transfer notices, temporary acting appointments, favorable notices, awards of merit, and other memos as required.
  • Maintaining and ordering supplies for multiple areas and locations.
  • Management of routine building issues.
  • Maintaining and creating branch member and email distribution lists.
  • Other related duties as required. 
  • Job Requirements


    :

  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college.
  • A minimum of two (2) years diversified word and information processing experience.
  • Ability to prioritize work and time in order to meet tight and competing deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to advise, guide, coach, and mentor staff.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures, demonstrating a high degree of initiative, judgement, and discretion.
  • Ability to recognize sensitive issues and bring matters of priority to senior leaders.
  • Proficiency with CARM, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Applicants may be tested.
  • As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.


  • Hours of Work:  
    40 hours per week, 07:00-15:30hrs, Monday to Friday 
     
    Salary Range: 
    21B, Salary Grade: 007, $23.787 – $29.534 (Hourly), $1,903.00 – $2,362.70 (Bi-Weekly), $49,667.26 – $61,666.99 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
