Our client is looking for a Construction Manager to join their team to oversee the construction planning and execution across their solar farm project portfolio in Alberta! 


Reporting into the Project Manager, the Construction Manager will work to ensure adherence to contractual obligations related to safety, quality, schedule, and budget, while infusing a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and driving accountability for successful results and outcomes.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Finance, Quality, Safety) to establish plan for overall project success
  • Oversees the construction planning effort and development of Installation Work Packages & Inspection Test Plans
  • Participate in the development of construction contracts
  • Direct and oversee development of subcontractor’s scope of work, sequencing, coordination, scheduling, installation, and logistics related to the projects
  • Assist the Estimators in the budgeting and scheduling process and in closing all major tendered project opportunities to ensure constructability is taken into account, and no scope gaps exist
  • Understand and oversee compliance with the EPC contract
  • Accountable for all site safety
  • Act as the main on-site representative, maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders
  • Manage on-site aspects of the project from Notice to Proceed to Operational turnover and completion of punch list items
  • Ensure work is performed within quality system requirements
  • Develop and drive the construction schedule in conjunction with the project team ensuring that completion dates and milestones are met
  • Ensure weekly updates are provided and incorporated in the project schedule
  • Put your problem-solving skills to work and recommend innovative methods that will increase effectiveness and efficiency to ensure project excellence and productivity
  • Provide direction in training of superintendents and foreman and coordinate the hiring of field manpower

  • About You

    The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Previous experience on utility-scale solar projects
  • Preference for experience on projects of 100MW in Alberta
  • Experience in substation and transmission line construction and commissioning, particularly over 230kV
  • Collaborative leadership style where you prefer to lead by example to achieve excellence while driving accountability for results and outcomes
  • Location flexibility or willingness to relocate for the project’s duration
  • Full-time commitment to working at the project site during construction
  • Expertise in construction processes and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of industry products, practices and standards
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools
