Intermediate Architectural Designer We are looking for an Intermediate Architectural Designer to join our team. We are growing, mid-sized firm located in Calgary with a focus on multi-residential projects situated throughout Alberta, BC and working our way into other provinces. THE RESPONSIBILITIES: Work independently and in a team to assist clients through the planning and creation of projects, managing project scope and schedules. Prepare preliminary design studies and investigate alternative design schemes through drawing & modelling. Prepare drawings for schematic design and design development.

Exercise creative judgment and design application skills in preparing client presentation materials, including design sketches, renderings, models and graphics. Analyze codes, zoning and site plan requirements, and coordination of documents for permit application submissions. Adhere to firm and project goals of excellence in design execution.

Prepare basic technical drawings. Support complex technical drawings. Perform area calculations according to specified standards.

Perform site reviews, including survey of existing conditions and field measurements. Support communication with clients, contractors, product suppliers and other design professionals and approving authorities. Participate in peer-review process and mentor junior designers.

Organize and plan accordingly to execute tasks. Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions, and legibility. Advocate and inspire creativity, critical thought, and design excellence both internally and externally.

Oversee and participate in production of design award submissions. WHAT’S REQUIRED: The Ideal candidate will have the following credentials: A recognized degree in Architecture. Intern Registration, or full Architect registration with the AAA.

Minimum 5 years of experience as a AAA Intern Architect working on various project types in Canada. Advanced knowledge of construction and architectural practices including building materials, construction techniques, sustainability strategies, and other related engineering principles. Experience with multi-use, multi-unit residential, industrial, and commercial projects.

Proficient In AutoCAD or Revit, Adobe software, SketchUp, and Revit Construction site experience would be an asset. LEED certification an asset. WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN: Opportunity to work for a professional managed company that operates with integrity, a collaborative and supportive work culture.
