ABOUT US: The Safety Codes Council is an independent regulatory body made up of employees and industry experts, accountable to the Minister of Municipal Affairs. The Council advises on and implements the Minister’s public policy for the safety codes system, provides programs and services, and administers regulatory and adjudicative functions.



THE ROLE: As the Associate Vice President, Policy and Engagement, you lead the Council in providing timely and considered public policy advice to the Minister of Municipal Affairs, as well as supporting your colleagues in developing and implementing Council policies. As a strong people leader, you will provide mentorship, direction, and inspiration to a team of professionals, as you collectively stay ahead of safety codes system trends, engage with industry experts, and conduct qualitative and quantitative policy analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead policy stewardship and governance to support the Council’s strategic goals.
  2. Monitor and analyze emerging safety system policy issues, providing expert advice to the executive and Minister of Municipal Affairs.
  3. Design, plan, and execute policy reviews and engagements.
  4. Build collaborative relationships with Council, government, and industry counterparts.
  5. Lead a team of professionals to achieve organizational goals.


Qualifications:

  1. University degree in Political Science, Economics, Arts, Business, Law, or a related field.
  2. Experience in public policy development and public engagement.
  3. Demonstrated excellence as a leader of people.
  4. Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.

  2. Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week (Monday – Friday).
