Company Overview

The Okotoks Air Ranch Airport is a private residential airpark located the Town of Okotoks, Alberta. The Town of Okotoks is located 20 km south of the City of Calgary and is positioned entirely within the Municipal District of Foothills No. 31.


Position Summary

The Airport Manager (APM) is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the Okotoks Air Ranch Airport. This role serves as the primary liaison between the airport and key stakeholders including Transport Canada, NavCanada, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, provincial and municipal authorities, law enforcement, tenants, and the public. The APM ensures regulatory compliance, oversees operational planning, and leads safety and emergency management initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:


Regulatory & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with Transport Canada, NavCanada, RCMP, provincial and municipal bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective communication with airport tenants, users, and the public regarding operational safety and compliance.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Develop, issue, and manage amendments to the Airport Operations Manual (AOM), subject to Transport Canada approval.
  • Maintain and update manuals, standards, and operational plans in accordance with TP312E (4th or 5th Edition) and other applicable regulations.

Operational Safety & Risk Management

  • Prepare Safety Cases and Change Management Analyses for operational or management changes.
  • Develop and implement Plans of Construction Operations (PCO) as temporary amendments during construction.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments and publish NOTAMs as required.
  • Ensure daily quality control of airport operations.

Emergency & Incident Management

  • Oversee the Airport Emergency Plan, including fire prevention, crash response, and on-scene coordination.
  • Maintain Aircraft Crash Charts, Airport Grid Maps, and ensure personnel are trained and tested on emergency procedures.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and accidents through the airport’s Safety Management System (SMS).

Environmental & Seasonal Operations

  • Lead Airport Wildlife Planning and Management initiatives.
  • Oversee Airport Winter Maintenance operations and ensure compliance with associated standards.

Leadership & Delegation

  • Act as alternate for the Assistant General Manager (AGM), SMS Manager, or Airfield Maintainer in their absence.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in airport operations or aviation management.
  • Strong knowledge of Transport Canada regulations and TP312E standards.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and emergency planning.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate across multiple operational areas.
