MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking an Asset Management Electrical Engineer to work on a 1 year contract for one of BC’s largest utility and energy companies on a hybrid basis in Burnaby, BC.

About the role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of electricity generation equipment maintenance programs and to support Asset Management and Safety related initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment, ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards, are within budget, and are completed on time.
  2. Create and maintain supporting documentation, including maintenance procedures, instructions, record forms, and selection of required spare parts to sustain equipment operation.
  3. Oversee the operation, maintenance, and remediation of equipment and systems failures within power utility, oil and gas, or heavy industrial environments.
  4. Develop maintenance programs and/or commissioning plans for various electrical assets, such as:
    1. Generator exciter systems
    2. DC power supply equipment (batteries, chargers, etc.)
    3. Medium and low voltage AC power supply equipment (transformers, power circuit breakers, disconnect switches, surge arresters, switchgear, power distribution panels, etc.)
    4. Control and monitoring components
    5. Electrical protection components

  5. Assume Professional of Record responsibility for electrical equipment maintenance programs and associated documentation.
  6. Apply expertise in reading and understanding drawings and manuals to assess system operations, identify potential failure points, and develop design or maintenance strategies to prevent failures.
  7. Prioritize and manage multiple competing assignments effectively.
  8. Make informed decisions and resolve conflicts efficiently in the context of maintenance program development and implementation.
  9. Coordinate with engineering subject matter experts, field personnel, and regulatory compliance teams to ensure successful program execution.

Requirements:


Must haves:

  1. Must have a minimum of four (4) years of engineering experience including most time working in the equipment maintenance and/or commissioning field, or equivalent.
  2. Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or with another jurisdiction and eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC.
  3. Must have an electrical background.
  4. Must hold a Class 5 driver’s license in good standing.


Nice to haves:

  1. Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) is preferred.
  2. Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is an advantage.
