Asset Safety Officer

We are looking for someone who is keen to take on the initiative and contribute to YVR’s Health and Safety Team with a proactive and collaborative approach to a variety of health and safety issues. The Safety Advisor is part of a team that is focused on enabling business at YVR to ensure intended business outcomes are successfully and safely achieved. As proactive health and safety professionals we use our expertise to apply the safety lens across our airport community ensuring YVR is one of the safest airports in the world.

Developing and implementing proactive and leading-edge health and safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy environment, which includes conducting inspections, risk assessments, internal audits of programs and practices, and incident investigations Administering and delivering safety training including but not limited to Supervisor Safety Leadership training, FLHA use, as well as new employee orientations, and creating computer-based training modules on a variety of topics Managing multiple priorities, such as conducting extensive indoor environmental quality, noise dosimetry assessments, and liaising with tenants and airlines on issues pertaining to indoor environmental quality issues Developing and sustaining cooperative working relationships at all levels while overseeing the corporate Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Ergonomics, WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods programs, the Hazardous Materials Management Program, as well as supporting the evolution of an Integrated Safety Strategy for the airport Monitoring of organizational safety metrics, data analytics, and health and safety management technology tools Supporting the designated business partner(s) on meeting safety objectives, incident investigations, training, and more Minimum five years of recent, related progressive experience, supplemented by a post-secondary degree in health and safety or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience Preference given to Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) designations Demonstrated experience in executing and operating successful health and safety programs and management systems Demonstrated experience with broad based occupational health and safety support in the identification, assessment and control of health and safety risks Thorough knowledge of federal and provincial regulations governing occupational health and safety At YVR, your work experience goes beyond the paycheck.
