Job Summary:

Join Central 1 as the AVP of Treasury. In this role, you will oversee strategic management of funding, lending, collateral management, cost of funds, and capital allocation. This role involves leading innovation and enhancing operational efficiencies across diverse business lines, managing a substantial funding portfolio exceeding $10 billion in Canadian and US Dollar deposits, commercial paper, and medium-term notes. Collaborate closely with the Treasury Director to ensure effective liquidity and funding management on a daily basis. Strong relationships with the dealer community in Toronto and Vancouver are crucial. Join us and influence financial strategy while driving growth at Central 1.



What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide financial return for the organization through the management of the funding, lending and collateral portfolios while also identifying efficiencies and bringing innovation to existing processes.
  • Formulate and execute Central 1’s funding strategy in concert with other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, presentations and commentaries detailing funding metrics, strategies, opportunities and risks for the ALCO, MRC, ELT and Board Risk Committee.
  • Manage relationships with other capital market participants, vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversight of the Director of Treasury, Cash Manager and Liability Manager.
  • Review and respond to risk management reports and funding policy.
  • Ensure Central 1 provides reliable collateral and custodial services to clients.

What you’ll have:

  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Finance and/or Business Administration.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is preferred.
  • 10+ years financial markets or financial institution treasury management.
  • Excellent understanding of money markets, repo trading, funding structures, debt issuance and collateral management.
  • Experience and knowledge of industry best practice as it relates to cost of fund and capital allocation models.
  • Strong quantitative techniques, analytical skills and significant cash management and trading.
  • The ability to prudently manage the risks and returns of a funding, cash management and liability portfolios.
  • Management experience with specific focus on leading teams of financial market professionals.
  • Operational understanding of capital markets.
  • Strong competency in MS Office, with particular attention to Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced experience in fixed income, financial modelling, data management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Must display an understanding of capital markets etiquette and a keen sense toward building relationships with financial and market professionals.
  • Proven experience in motivating, leading and inspiring successful teams.
  • Cross-department and divisional interaction required.
  • The ability to concurrently manage a variety of tasks is essential to the successful execution of the job requirements.
  • Accuracy is critical in this function and will have a material impact on Central 1’s performance.

Salary:


$150K-180K

The salary represents the job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
