Responsibilities:
Operations & Compliance:

  • Safely and efficiently manage the Steam and Gas department in accordance with provincial regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with BC Technical Safety requirements for pressure vessel repairs, alterations, and installations.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for boiler house equipment.
  • Oversee maintenance and operation strategies to enhance efficiency, energy conservation, and environmental performance.

Safety & Training:


  • Lead safety programs, establish objectives, and track progress.
  • Engage personnel in reviewing and modifying safe operating and lock-out procedures.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols by providing necessary training and tools.

Leadership & Maintenance Planning:

  • Delegate responsibilities to Shift Engineers and Firemen to ensure safe operations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead annual maintenance shutdowns, ensuring safe and efficient execution.
  • Provide coaching and leadership to the team, fostering professional development.


Qualifications:

  • Valid BC 1st Class Power Engineer Certificate (or a minimum of 6 exams completed towards certification).
  • Strong knowledge of high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability to analyze utility systems and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in a dynamic environment.
  • A safety-first mindset with experience implementing safety programs.
  • Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
