Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.</p><h3>Base pay range</h3><p>CA$180,000.00/yr - CA$200,000.00/yr</p><p>On behalf of a confidential client, a dynamic and fast-growing construction organization is seeking a strategic and hands-on VP of Finance to lead its financial operations during a pivotal phase of growth. This is a full-time, in-office executive role.</p><p>With 15+ years of experience, the ideal candidate brings deep expertise in construction finance, M&A, and capital structuring, and thrives in entrepreneurial, high-growth environments. As a core member of the executive leadership team, the VP of Finance will play a central role in shaping the organization’s financial strategy and long-term direction.</p><p><b>Key Responsibilities include:</b></p><p><b>Strategic Finance & Executive Leadership:</b></p><ul><li>Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team in developing and executing the financial vision.</li><li>Lead all financial aspects of M&A activity, including due diligence, valuation, financial modeling, and post-acquisition integration.</li><li>Manage capital structure, banking relationships, debt covenants, and financing arrangements.</li><li>Represent the organization with banks, investors, insurers, and other external stakeholders.</li><li>Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.</li><li>Deliver robust financial reporting, dashboards, KPIs, and performance analysis tailored to the construction sector (e.g., WIP, backlog, utilization, margins).</li><li>Provide data-driven insights to support executive decision-making.</li></ul><p><b>Accounting, Controls & Compliance</b></p><ul><li>Oversee core accounting functions including job costing, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, AP/AR, payroll, and tax.</li><li>Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP or IFRS.</li><li>Strengthen internal controls and scale financial processes to support continued growth.</li></ul><p><b>Operational Finance & Technology</b></p><ul><li>Optimize cash flow, working capital, and vendor relationships.</li><li>Evaluate and implement ERP and reporting systems (experience with Jonas, Sage 300, or Procore considered an asset).</li><li>Partner closely with operations to embed financial accountability across project teams and business units.</li></ul><p><b>Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA strongly preferred.</li><li>10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior role within construction or industrial services.</li><li>Demonstrated success in M&A transactions, capital raises, and banking negotiations.</li><li>Strong knowledge of construction finance principles, including WIP management and percentage-of-completion accounting.</li><li>Advanced financial modeling, FP&A, and reporting capabilities.</li><li>Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor finance teams.</li><li>Decisive, adaptable leader comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.</li></ul><p><b>What’s Offered:</b></p><ul><li>Competitive executive compensation with performance-based bonus.</li><li>Opportunity to shape the financial future of a rapidly scaling construction organization.</li><li>High-impact, visible leadership role with strategic influence.</li><li>Collaborative leadership culture focused on operational excellence and innovation.</li><li>Great benefit plan, RRSP matching contributions</li></ul><h3>Seniority level</h3><ul><li>Executive</li></ul><h3>Employment type</h3><ul><li>Full-time</li></ul><h3>Job function</h3><ul><li>Finance</li><li>Industries</li><li>Construction</li></ul></p>
