As the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Hiive, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy that drives growth, brand awareness, and customer acquisition. You will lead a team of talented marketing professionals and collaborate closely with other departments to position the company as the world’s leading liquidity solution and marketplace for pre-IPO stock.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with the company’s overall business objectives.
Drive brand awareness and positioning, ensuring the company’s brand resonates with its target audience.
Oversee the development and execution of effective customer acquisition and retention campaigns across various channels.
Conduct ongoing market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive threats.
Lead and manage a team of marketing professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and career development opportunities.
Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximizing ROI.
Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation within the marketing team.
Collaborate closely with other departments (e.g., sales, product, engineering) to ensure alignment and optimize marketing efforts.
Provide strategic input to the executive team on marketing-related decisions.
Marketing Execution: Manage public relations activities to enhance the company’s reputation and visibility.
Oversee digital marketing efforts, including SEO, SEM, social media, content marketing, affiliates, and email marketing.
Develop and manage strategic partnerships with complementary businesses.
Leverage data analytics to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, identify areas for improvement, and inform future strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments (e.g., sales, product, operations, compliance, engineering) to ensure alignment and optimize marketing efforts.
Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation within the marketing team.
Provide strategic input to the executive team on marketing-related decisions.
Additional Responsibilities:
Data-Driven Decision Making: The CMO should be able to leverage data analytics to inform marketing decisions and optimize campaign performance. This includes using tools like Google Analytics, social media analytics platforms, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems to track key metrics and identify trends.
Customer-Centric Approach: The CMO should have a deep understanding of the target audience and their needs. This knowledge should be used to develop marketing campaigns that resonate with customers and drive engagement.
Innovation and Adaptability: The fintech industry is constantly evolving, and the CMO must be able to stay ahead of industry trends and adapt the marketing strategy accordingly. This includes being open to new technologies and marketing channels, as well as experimenting with different approaches.
Team Leadership and Development: The CMO will be responsible for leading a team of marketing professionals. This requires strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate and inspire team members, and a commitment to developing their skills and careers.
Compliant Marketing Practices: The CMO should ensure that all marketing activities comply with ethical standards and regulations. This includes adhering to data privacy laws, avoiding deceptive or misleading marketing practices, and ensuring that the company’s marketing efforts are transparent and honest.
Crisis Management: The CMO should be prepared to handle marketing crises effectively. This may involve developing a crisis communication plan, coordinating with other departments, and taking steps to mitigate damage to the company’s reputation.
Qualifications:
Proven track record of success in developing and executing marketing strategies for exceptional high-growth companies, preferably with a fintech or regulation-intensive marketplace unicorn.
Previous CMO experience with 20+ total years in marketing, at least 10 years in a leadership role.
Bachelor’s degree from a rigorous undergraduate institution, MBA a plus.
Strong understanding of the fintech industry and market trends, including regulatory landscape, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for innovation.
Experience scaling a foundational marketing department through managing large budgets and teams, with a proven ability to allocate resources effectively and drive results.
Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making abilities, with the ability to leverage data insights to optimize marketing strategies.
Additional Considerations:
Experience with marketing automation tools and platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Customer.io, Salesforce Marketing Cloud).
Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and customer data management practices.
Strong understanding of digital marketing best practices and emerging trends, including influencer marketing, content marketing, and social media advertising.
Ability to think strategically and creatively, while also being detail-oriented and execution-focused.
A passion for fintech and a desire to contribute to the growth and success of a leading company in the industry.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to a rapidly changing technological landscape and leverage new marketing opportunities.
Experience with cross-cultural marketing and understanding of global market dynamics (if applicable).
A strong understanding of the regulatory environment and compliance requirements within the fintech industry.
