Position Overview:

Our client is a local engineering consulting that provides expertise to the planning, design and construction on a wide variety of municipal infrastructure projects. Due to growth, they are looking to add a Civil Design Technologist to their team in a role that offers challenges and growth.

Further Responsibilities Include the Following:

  • Conduct field investigations and site reconnaissance to gather necessary data.
  • Research, collect, analyze, and interpret existing infrastructure records.
  • Develop and maintain base plan drawings for existing infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Perform civil engineering design, analysis, and calculations under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
  • Create civil engineering design drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Research and apply relevant specifications and standards for projects.
  • Support project management functions as needed.
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination with clients, owners, municipalities, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with other project team professionals, including architects, electrical engineers, geotechnical engineers, traffic engineers, and environmental consultants.
  • Conduct construction field reviews to verify compliance with design specifications.
  • Prepare detailed reports following field reviews.
  • Monitor environmental conditions for erosion and sediment control.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and ensure functionality of all necessary equipment.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:


  • 2+ years of relevant municipal/ utility engineering design experience in BC, with a focus on local land development and municipal engineering.
  • Experience with Civil3D and drafting engineering drawings an asset.
  • Experience and familiarity with Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) specifications.
  • Experience in sewer, watermain, roads, grading design, and stormwater management.
  • A valid BC drivers license and capable of distance driving within BC when required.
  • Own transportation an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
