Civil Estimator

Job Title: Intermediate/Senior Civil Estimator – Underground Utilities Location: Vancouver, BC Salary Range: $100,000 – $140,000 plus bonus Job Type: Full-Time Must Haves: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience. A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in civil estimation with a focus on underground utilities. Proficient in using estimation software, specifically HeavyBid.

Demonstrable experience with Bluebeam for plan reading and takeoffs. Strong mathematical and analytical skills to interpret project specifications and blueprints. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Nice to Haves: Project Management experience, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Certifications such as a Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) or similar. A robust understanding of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to construction and underground utilities.

Responsibilities: Prepare detailed cost estimates for underground utility projects by analyzing plans, engineering drawings, and other documentation. Liaise with project managers, engineers, clients, and contractors to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.

Conduct site visits and assessments to gather information to inform accurate estimates. Coordinate with the project management team to provide project support as needed. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and ensure compliance with company standards as well as federal and state regulations.
