The Candidate

Our organization is looking for an experienced Civil Inspector (3 years minimum) to work on municipal and commercial engineering projects in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Applicants must have completed a recognized Civil Engineering Technology program from an accredited post secondary institution, or equivalent education and experience.

Experience in survey work is also required. The ideal candidate must display a positive work attitude and work in a team environment.

Experience working in municipal engineering is required.

Candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Hourly wage commensurate with candidates experience and qualifications.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Reporting to the engineer.

• Previous experience in civil construction works and supervision or inspection of roadworks.

• Record inspections, tests, work executed.

• Monitor the review of the contractor’s documents/shop drawings to flag and rectify any issues which may affect the stability or function of any components or systems.

• Preparing daily logs and reports.

• Monitoring and ensuring that all civil/structural engineering aspects of the project are done as per inspection plan/drawings/codes and specifications.

• Monitor safety aspects when dealing with Civil/structural installations.

• Perform and or evaluate tests confirming quality requirements, civil/structural finishes and building components by conducting thorough site inspection for all civil/structural works as per approved shop drawings, specifications, and method statement.

• Field checks placement, location, and quality of civil/structural finishes, building structure components.

• Perform civil/structural inspections and material inspections (QA / QC).

• Ensure compliance of civil/structural l works to design requirements, specifications, and project plan.
