Position Summary:  


EHN Sandstone Recovery Centre specializes in providing care to adolescents and young adults (ages 12-24) who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder and are working towards their recovery. Sandstone is a 12-bed live in treatment program focused on providing evidence based individual, family, and group therapy, meal support, psychiatric and medical care as core components of the program. Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team including clinicians, registered dietitian, nurses, nurse practitioner, pediatrician, support staff, and chefs/cooks.

The Clinical Team Lead is responsible for leading day-to-day clinical programing in the Centre. The position oversees the delivery of clinical care, promotes collaborative teamwork, patient and family engagement and satisfaction, professional and clinical skill development of staff, innovative thinking in program development and evaluation, and supervision of clinical staff. The role will work closely with and provide leadership to a team of clinicians to ensure excellence in our clinical pathways through the design, implementation and monitoring of clinical best practises with a focus on quality improvement and patient outcomes. The Clinical Team Lead will also lead critical projects focusing on client care and experience.

Clinical Supervisor Job Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership & supervision to the clinical team including the Registered Dietitian
  • Leadership in the development and delivery of all programming
  • Oversee clinical treatment plans
  • Lead weekly clinical case conferences
  • Provide individual, family, group therapy and meal support treatment
  • Reviewing patient records to ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations regarding patient privacy laws
  • Developing strategies to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Centre
  • Continuous quality improvement
  • Program development and evaluation
  • Participate in after hours on-call coverage on a rotating basis
  • Ensures effective communication & follow up with the Executive Director on any relevant issues
  • Recruitment, onboarding, training, and mentoring new staff while ensuring their performance is compliant with company policies
  • Evaluating staff performance and identifying areas of improvement or concern
  • Ensuring that all regulatory standards are met regarding patient care, safety standards, infection control, etc.
  • Attend weekly Clinical Case Conference, meet with community partners, speak at conferences & participate in workshops, etc.
  • Oversee work processes, policies, directives, and deliver high standards of efficiency, service, and quality across all business units
  • Conduct reviews, quality control and drive/lead improvements and enhancements
  • Work in collaboration with the Executive Director regarding project management and execution
  • Administrative duties such as, setting clinical staff schedules, updating, and maintaining patient records, and being an information resource for patients and staff
  • Ensuring that clinical best practices are followed
  • Developing departmental goals and objectives for staff to improve the patient experience and outcomes
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in psychology or social work
  • Active registration with an applicable regulatory body as recognized by the Alberta Health Professions Act; must hold general registration prior to starting in the position
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience providing mental health assessment and intervention, including restricted activities related to psychosocial interventions per the Alberta Health Professions Act
  • Clinical experience must include progressive responsibilities in delivering individual, family, and group therapy in a mental health/psychiatric setting, preferably to individuals with eating disorders
  • Experience providing leadership and supervision to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working collaboratively in the provision of a full range of services ranging from outpatient, day treatment, and inpatient
  • Knowledge of evaluation strategies and outcomes research
  • Knowledge of and experience with eating disorders
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Record of accomplishment of progressive leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals, interdisciplinary teams, and other departments
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet, email, and web applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced training in family therapy or therapy supervision desired
  • Strong family therapy skills preferred
  • Experience in providing supervision to a multidisciplinary team
