Job Overview:

The Collections Manager will report to the Sr. Director of Risk & Compliance and oversee the collection efforts and delinquency controls of the company, ensuring money owed is billed and received correctly and promptly. This role involves managing a team of accounts receivable and collection specialists, developing strategies to improve collection rates, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of collection processes and best practices.

Salary: $ 118,000 – $130,000  CAD/year

Duties:

  • Leading and managing the collection team to achieve departmental goals and targets
  • Developing and implementing effective collection strategies and processes
  • Ensuring collection of overdue or delinquent accounts
  • Monitoring and analyzing collection metrics to identify areas for improvement
  • Ensuring collection and credit policies and procedures are followed while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
  • Providing insight into the approval or rejection of credit applications, establishing credit limits and determining repayment plans or schedules in accordance with authorized limits
  • Handling escalated collection issues and negotiating payment arrangements with clients
  • Recruiting, training, and mentoring collection specialists to enhance their performance and skills
  • Ensuring the company’s policies and procedures are followed according to established guidelines and make recommendations for improvement
  • Contacting collection agencies and seeking legal advice from attorneys as necessary to settle bankrupt accounts
  • Recommending legal action for specific accounts and following through as necessary
  • Reviewing accounts and recommending charge-off as appropriate
  • Supervising approved accounts charge-off procedures and reporting it to credit reporting agencies
  • Initiating repossession steps when authorized
  • Maintaining thorough records of actions taken in repossession and asset sales
  • Collaborating with other departments to streamline the collection process
  • Preparing regular reports on collection activities and performance


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 2+ years’ experience within collections management, including supervisory experience, is required
  • Industry experience in fleet, rental or automotive field required
  • Proficiency in CDK, LPM, TSD, Salesforce, Certinia, and Microsoft Suite
  • APRES accreditation required
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of collection laws and regulations in Canada and US
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
