In this role, you will use your communications skills and experience to build and implement communications strategies that directly support our diverse operations portfolio, with a particular focus on our In Situ and Fort Hills assets. The Operations Communications team supports the execution of Suncor’s key priorities and contributes to business results by supporting leadership in the delivery of safe, reliable operations and fostering a productive and engaged workforce.



Minimum Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in communications, preferably within a corporate communications or business partner setting.
  • A University degree or related post-secondary diploma/certificate in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or associated field.
  • Strong skills, including strategic communication planning, research, writing (print and web), editing, and measurement.
  • Experience as a trusted and essential communication consultant managing client expectations, building strong partnerships, and resolving communication issues and reputational challenges.
  • Able to successfully manage multiple projects to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Through effective communications counsel and planning, support senior business leaders in fostering organizational alignment and clarifying our key business priorities, goals, and progress.
  • Collaborate with members of the broader communications team and other functional groups to ensure alignment in approaches, messaging, and the use of tools and processes.
  • Build a deep understanding of the business to provide leaders and communications partners with communications advice on key issues and risks.
  • Work with change management specialists to ensure large initiatives with change impacts are appropriately communicated.
  • Provide timely support during emergencies or critical events as a member of the on-call rotation.

Location and other Key Details:


  • This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary office with regular business travel to the Fort McMurray region.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour week, Monday to Friday.
