We’re currently looking for a Community Impact Strategist, Children and Youth to join our dynamic Community Impact team.
Reporting to the Manager of Children and Youth Initiatives, the Community Strategist, Children and Youth, is responsible for leading strategy development and implementation in the children and youth environment, along with supporting community investments in the area of children and youth. If you are passionate about your community, aspire to make an impact, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to make a difference, then we’re looking for you What you will do Lead Strategy development and Implementation of our expanding role in the early childhood space, ensuring it is responsive to the needs in the community Build strong partnerships with organizations in the child and youth environment, which may include levels of government Offer recommendations, and support the alignment and integration of Children and Youth investments Organizational expertise and leadership Community leadership and linkages to the implementation of strategic children and youth initiatives Leadership of internal children and youth projects Coordinating, convening and facilitating committees, tables, and/or Communities of Practice involving staff from relevant agencies and organizations Provide recommendations regarding investments, engagement, policies, and system change issues focusing on impact Financial oversight of children and youth investments Support the work at various tables (including but not limited to committees, councils, community of practice), both as a participant and convenor What you will bring Experience: Minimum bachelor’s degree in early childhood development, education, or a relevant field of study preferred Minimum 5 years leadership role experience (coordination, supervisory and administrative) in the Early Childhood, childhood or youth sector Strong facilitation skills in adult learning environments Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, including local and provincial community partners, youth and families, and senior leaders across multiple organizations, both virtually and in-person. Non-profit sector: 3 Years (preferred) Attributes: Experience in project management Experience coordinating, convening and facilitating committees, tables, and/or Communities of Practice would be an asset Budgeting skills and experience Excellent communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills Proven leadership and management skills in a collaborative and inclusive team environment Experience organizing and or leading committees/tables would be an asset Stay abreast of research, best practices, and emerging concerns in the children and youth sector Experience in Early Childhood Literacy would be considered an asset Natural self-starter and comfortable in ambiguity Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office 365 suite of software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams United, we make the biggest difference United Way is a not-for-profit organization that has played a vital role in our community for over 80 years.
