Overview

The shift pattern for this post is full time.
Greater Glasgow and Clyde are looking for a Consultant Clinical Geneticist who would be flexible to work primarily as a general Clinical Geneticist with sub specialty interests which could include Prenatal Genetics and Ophthalmology.
There are opportunities to contribute to other teams in the department following discussion with the Lead Clinician. This replacement post, based at the Laboratory Medicine Building within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus, will join a team of 11 consultants, 1 Specialty doctor and 13 Genetic Counsellors providing Clinical Genomic services to the west of Scotland (Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and Arran, Dumfries and Galloway and Forth Valley Health Boards) covering a population of approximately 2.7 million.
The department is based in a modern laboratory building co-located with the Clinical Genomics laboratory. It has its own designated outpatient area and is on the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus along with the Adult, Children’s, Neuroscience and Maternity hospitals facilitating opportunities for joint working, collaboration and research with other specialties. Peripheral clinics are coordinated across other hospital sites and child development clinics in Glasgow and the other 4 regions comprising west of Scotland. An interest in teaching, training and research is encouraged.
