Job Description

Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Hybrid Data Engineer (Python / PySpark) for our client. This hybrid role can be filled in either Toronto or Ottawa, ON.

Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Overview:

An experienced Python/PySpark Developer is required to support the creation, optimization, and automation of data quality solutions within an enterprise data environment. The successful candidate will work with existing pseudo-code and/or SAS code to build scalable, efficient data quality indicators and reporting components.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop Python/PySpark code to generate data quality indicators and produce data quality reports.

- Translate pseudo-code and existing SAS logic into efficient, production-ready Python/PySpark solutions.

- Enhance and optimize existing Python/PySpark programs to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability.

- Further automate data quality processes to increase operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.

- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to validate requirements and ensure solution accuracy.

- Support testing, troubleshooting, and documentation activities as required.

Required Qualifications:

- Demonstrated experience developing solutions in Python and PySpark.

- Proven ability to interpret pseudo-code and legacy code (e.g., SAS) and translate into modern frameworks.

- Strong understanding of data quality concepts, data processing workflows, and distributed computing.

- Experience optimizing and automating data pipelines.

- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Assets:

- Experience working in cloud-based data environments.

- Knowledge of SAS conversion or modernization initiatives.

- Familiarity with enterprise data platforms and big data ecosystems.

- Experience with Amazon Redshift.
