Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Snowflake Administrator to join our team! You will be included in the Snowflake administration team and tasked with managing the Snowflake database as well as supporting various teams within the Data Intelligence and Pricing group. You will assist applications in loading data in real-time, near real-time, and end-of-day files, with UI and API applications utilizing Snowflake as their backend database. This dynamic environment will demand that you are a proactive critical problem solver who can maintain platform stability and resilience while applying modern engineering practices and solutions. Manage existing data pipelines keeping data relevant and true, ready for analytical consumption.

What you will do:

• Database Administration:

o Deploy, configure, and administer Snowflake environments

o Monitor and optimize Snowflake performance, storage, and query execution

o Automate maintenance and administration tasks using SQL, Python, or Shell scripting

o Integrate Snowflake with AWS S3, Glue, Lambda, Airflow, DBT and other cloud services

o Manage external stages and storage integrations for seamless data movement

o Monitor security logs and implement audit controls for data protection

o Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, query performance, and connectivity issues

o Establish monitoring, alerts, and proactive issue resolution strategies

o Create, manage, and maintain Snowflake databases, warehouses, and roles.

o Implement and enforce data governance policies and procedures.

o Monitor database performance and identify optimization opportunities.

o Perform regular database backups and recoveries.

o On-call rotation duties and weekend support activities where needed.

o Participate in CICD deployments and other planned activities where needed.

• Security:

o Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive data.

o Manage user access controls and privileges.

o Monitor for security threats and respond to incidents promptly

• Performance Optimization:

o Analyze database performance and identify bottlenecks.

o Tune database configurations to improve query performance.

o Implement indexing strategies and data partitioning techniques.

• Data Loading and Migration:

o Develop and execute data loading and migration strategies.

o Ensure data integrity and accuracy during the migration process

• Troubleshooting:

o Diagnose and resolve database-related issues and errors.

o Provide technical support to data analysts and engineers

• Documentation:

o Maintain comprehensive documentation of database architecture, procedures, and standards.

Must Have:

• 6+ years of proven experience as a database administrator with Snowflake.

• 5+ years of Strong understanding of SQL and database concepts

• 5+ years of experience in deployments and on-call support activities

• 5+ years of experience in supporting and troubleshooting batch, streaming and real time data loads.

• 4+ years of experience in Snowflake applications (big data cloud database), writing efficient queries, as well as reading and understanding the query plans and writing stored procedures and functions

• 4+ years of experience in cloud native technologies including AWS

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of data modeling and data governance best practices.

• Hands on experience with Snowflake Notebooks, Snowpipe, Data Share etc.
