The Dean of Business and Professional Studies (BPS) is responsible for the senior academic leadership of the largest Faculty at Capilano University and its three schools – the School of Business, the School of Legal Studies, and the School of Communication. Leading a very career-oriented Faculty such as BPS, the Dean works externally to create linkages with industry and employers to support student and faculty success.

With a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion as well as decolonization, the Dean will also build on Capilano’s efforts to indigenize the curriculum. As our next Dean, BPS, you bring: A distinctive record of academic achievement and demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning in a discipline aligned with the Faculty of Business and Professional Studies. A record of scholarship, research and/or creative activity, and its promotion within a teaching university context. Demonstrated skills in creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking that have led to new and enhanced opportunities for learners and faculty.

A demonstrated commitment to Indigenization, decolonization, diversity, equity and inclusivity. Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and support faculty, students, and staff in their learning and careers. A record of successful administrative experience including budget management and resource allocation within a unionized environment. Demonstrated ability to work closely with industry and community to build partnerships and collaborations that benefit students.

PhD or other relevant doctoral degree, or an advanced degree/credential in the fields of business, communications or legal studies. Subject matter expertise within one or more of the Faculty’s disciplines or fields. Experience working in industry within the programmatic areas would be an asset.
