We are currently adding a Design Manager to lead the Design Team reporting directly to the President.

This is a critical role within Brooks Corning. The successful candidate will be excellent team player, and strong leader with a high degree of skill and accuracy working in various software systems. Job Description Reporting directly to the President you will play a key role in leading the Bid and Design team at Brooks Corning including overseeing the specifications, accuracy, and working closely with the sales and operations team.

The Design Manager is passionate about leading transformation both within the bid and design team and throughout the organisation. You see yourself as a business partner to the President and Owner/ CEO while leveraging your process to assist other departments with their strategic and operational initiatives. Primary Responsibilities · Lead, manage, prioritise and delegate the workload of the design team to ensure department KPI’s will be met; lead daily design meetings. · Mentor, coach and develop the skills and knowledge of the team. · Develops and maintains staffing plans in order to proactively manage workforce size and capability to meet growth and profitability objectives. · Attend and participate in strategic planning sessions and implement execution plans. · Leads design meetings and ensures that pre-mortems, post-mortems, and other ad-hoc meetings are conducted as required. · You will cultivate and reinforce appropriate team values, norms and behaviors within the team. · Ensure communication and alignment between design, sales, client services and the operations teams to provide an exceptional customer experience. · Responsible for recruiting, onboarding, training and development of the team. · Assist with the overall flow of design-related information between functional departments and champion process improvements. · Work collaboratively with Workplace Consultants and other staff to review and revise project specifications and drawings, ensuring accurate delivery of customer requirements. · Oversees operational KPIs and goals to ensure client and Brooks Corning’s needs are met. · Develop and track team goals in line with overall company goals. · Develop, document and support onboarding programs for new hires. · Protect the company against wasteful, inefficient, unsafe, and fraudulent practices. · Oversee bid and design standards and implement quality and accuracy checks for all aspects of the design and specification process. · Generate and revise design plans, technical drawings, and renderings. · Utilize AutoCAD and CET Designer (Canvas) software to complete project layouts, elevations, details, and specifications as required for proposals, customer approvals, order placement, and installation drawings. · Prepare base building drawings in AutoCAD for import into the product specification tool. · Identify project site dimension requirements and update base building drawings to reflect actual site dimensions. · Use Canvas specification tool to lay out Haworth and other vendors architectural wall and furniture products, including elevations, details and legends, generating drawing and product quotation for project review and approval. · Submit custom product and material pricing inquiries and implement into pricing and drawing specifications, ensuring Haworth response satisfies design intent and technical requirements of the project. · Employ product application strategies and expertise to suit design intent of prospective projects to ensure Haworth AI products are used in the most cost effective and accurate manner. · Update and maintain drawing standards and libraries to capture product design changes. · Various ad hoc projects and other duties as they arise. · Consistently champions Brooks Corning vision, values and mission to encourage team morale and collaboration at every level.

Qualifications · A University degree in Design/ Architecture or a related subject. · 5 plus years of design experience in progressively senior roles. · Lean process improvement experience a definite asset. · Design software skills such as AutoCAD, CETConfigura or similar.

Must have MSOffice including Excel skills. The Fine Print · This is an office-based role in Vancouver · Must be eligible to work in Canada · Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 per year depending on experience.
