Director, Business Integration and Special Projects

High Tide is seeking an accomplished Director, Business Integration and Special Projects to lead high-impact initiatives across the organization. This role will focus on the seamless integration of mergers and acquisitions, spearheading strategic projects, and overseeing the Shared Services and Contracts Office in our Calgary corporate office to drive organizational efficiency and excellence. The successful candidate will be a pivotal member of the leadership team, working at the intersection of strategy, operations, and execution to advance High Tide’s business objectives.

Responsibilities:

Business Integration & M&A:


  • Lead the end-to-end integration of acquired businesses, ensuring alignment with High Tide’s operational and strategic goals.
  • Conduct thorough financial, operational, and cultural due diligence to identify synergies, challenges, and opportunities within potential acquisitions.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive integration plans, focusing on seamless transition, stakeholder engagement, and long-term value creation.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide detailed assessments of M&A initiatives, including operational impacts, cost savings, and redundancies.
  • Maintain a forward-thinking approach, identifying and implementing strategies to optimize resources during integration processes.

Shared Services and Contracts Office Management:

  • Direct and oversee the Shared Services and Contracts Office, ensuring efficient utilization of shared resources across the organization.
  • Develop and implement strategies to centralize operations, reducing costs and enhancing service delivery.
  • Negotiate, manage, and optimize contracts, ensuring alignment with company goals and compliance with legal and financial standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate shared services performance, introducing improvements that add value and support scalability.

Strategic Project Leadership:

  • Serve as the lead for high-priority strategic projects, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to complex business challenges.
  • Prepare detailed project deliverables, including feasibility studies, financial models, and impact assessments.
  • Drive the development of methodologies and frameworks for project execution, ensuring consistent success and measurable results.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior executives, department heads, and cross-functional teams to align on priorities and strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, offering insights and recommendations based on data-driven analysis and industry best practices.
  • Facilitate transparent and effective communication across all levels of the organization to ensure alignment on goals and progress.

Special Projects:

  • Lead and manage unique, high-impact projects that require innovative thinking and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Provide expert oversight on projects involving technology implementation, process reengineering, and market expansion.
  • Adapt to emerging business needs, ensuring the organization remains agile and responsive to opportunities and challenges.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Support ad hoc initiatives and provide leadership on projects as directed by the COO or CEO.


Qualifications:

  • At least 5 – 7 years of experience in project management, corporate strategy, or a related field, with proven expertise in business integration and M&A processes.
  • Demonstrated success in managing shared services and contract negotiations.
  • Previous experience in retail, distribution, or corporate development roles is highly desirable.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field. MBA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent advanced qualifications preferred.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials are a strong asset.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong business acumen and financial literacy, with a solid understanding of operational metrics and reporting.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.
