The Role
Reporting to the Vice President Digital and Technology Platforms, the Director, Digital Sales Platforms leads the delivery and evolution of the platforms that Vancity members and staff use to market, onboard, and originate products. This position provides senior leadership for end-to-end digital sales technology development and integration in an evolving, multi-vendor, financial institution. The director is the platform owner for everything prospects, members, and employees touch when evaluating Vancity as a place to do their banking, evaluating products, joining the credit union, or onboarding to a new product. This position leads multiple technology teams and is responsible for all development and platform integration. As a member of the Digital and Technology Platforms leadership team, the Director will play a critical role in delivering transformative change in support of business goals whilst managing risk and the overall health of our daily banking applications.
This role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from your based home office.
Responsibilities
Planning and Strategy
- Contributes to and executes the digital sales platforms multi-year technology strategy and roadmap.
- Works with stakeholders and external partners to ensure alignment with the enterprise business strategy, objectives and key results.
- Works closely with other platform and architecture teams to assess suitable technology architecture, influencing definition and design.
- Leads sales platform design and development, including refining platform requirements and delivery of scalable platforms in an agile environment.
- Provides thought leadership to formulate and scale minimum viable platforms.
Operational Management
- Leads the technology build of a new COTS LOS platform and the technology build and integration of a MS Dynamics CRM platform.
- Leads the technology build and integration of pricing and other tooling used for attraction, onboarding, and retention of members.
- Leads the legacy transformation within the digital sales platform’s roadmap.
- Leads microservices based development and application scaling/containerization.
- Utilizes appropriate agile tooling to further develop DevOps CI/CD practices.
- Establishes and oversees production support processes for servicing platforms, ensuring maximum uptime and rapid resolution of issues.
- Implements monitoring and incident management tools to proactively identify and address potential problems.
- Monitors vendor performance and delivery ensuring compliance with Vancity’s standards and policies.
Leadership
- Builds, inspires, retains, and leads a high performing technology team.
- Mentors, coaches, and supports the technology talent pool to deliver on the organization’s people strategy with a keen eye for developing future talent.
- Oversees the technical team to take the digital platform concepts from ideation through validation, measurement, and iteration.
- Continuously motivates the team and drives ongoing improvements through measurable goals, training, and team optimization.
- Promotes the culture of transparency, ownership, and innovation across the teams.
- Nurtures and develops a highly engaged, diverse, and capable workforce to effectively execute the digital servicing roadmap and build great relationships with members.
- Fosters a culture of coaching, mentorship, agile learning, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an accomplished financial technology leader with a deep understanding of the current financial sales and customer management landscape, with demonstrated passion for technology, innovation, serving a team, and partnering to drive business results.
The Director will be a well-rounded, contemporary leader with proven ability to work with stakeholders to build out cutting-edge sales and onboarding solutions. Collaborative by nature, this leader is proven as an effective and results-oriented partner within the technology functions and beyond.
The performance and personal competencies required for this role are as follows:
- Completion of a University degree in the field of computer science/engineering or information technology or equivalent.
- At least 10 years of digital product delivery, and/or sales product leadership experience with a proven track record of enabling delivery in an Agile COTS (commercial off the shelf system) environment.
- Expertise in vendor partner management and demonstrated experience in vendor negotiation and contract and SLA management.
- Experience in agile transformation within a complex, multi-product technology organization.
- Experience with building and launching cross-organization products and services.
- Deep experience with COTS legacy systems transformation.
- Understanding of business models and value exchange to generate digital revenue.
- Delivers breakthrough innovations and sales solutions that create value for all stakeholders, continually improving results.
- An ability to inspire trust in others through clear communication of direction and demonstrable digital business expertise.

The salary range for the role is $121,000 to $181,200 and a candidate’s offer is likely to be up to the mid-point of the role ($151,100).
