Summary:

AltaLink’s Security & Information Services (S&IS) organization is aligned to a Listen, Plan, Build, and Operate model.


Reporting to the VP, Security & Information Services, the S&IS Business Office is responsible for strategic planning of S&IS services and comprises the finance, resource, governance, strategy, and enterprise architecture functions of the S&IS organization.


The Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the processes required to inform, align, and support S&IS service delivery teams (Capital Project Delivery, Application Support and Operations, and Corporate Security).  

This role requires a highly collaborative approach, working closely with the S&IS leadership team as well as leaders from across AltaLink’s lines of business.  The Director will work with the S&IS team to formulate a rolling long-term plan of business requirements and S&IS capital investment, services, resources, and operating costs. The role is also responsible for managing the annual S&IS budgeting process, monthly financial variance analysis and forecasting, and compliance reporting and will also support these processes for the larger Customer and Corporate Services team at AltaLink.



The role is responsible for identifying and facilitating continuous improvement across the entire S&IS organization, including multi-discipline, cross-team processes; innovation and transformation; sourcing and vendor performance management; and the General Tariff Application process.

Responsibilities:

The role is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and continuously improving key S&IS business processes.


Customer engagement (internal business customers of the S&IS organization)

  • Collect, integrate, and analyze customer feedback; facilitate development of opportunities for service improvement.
  • Integrate customer strategies to inform and ensure alignment of the long-term S&IS strategy.
  • Aggregate and prioritize customer demand for new S&IS capabilities.

 Strategy and long-term planning

  • Develop and maintain key S&IS strategies, including technology, data, analytics, cloud, sourcing, innovation, business transformation.
  • Develop and maintain the S&IS Enterprise Architecture roadmap, the strategic blueprint that communicates how AltaLink’s S&IS plans will help the organization achieve its business objectives.

  • Documents the future S&IS landscape, including business capabilities, technologies, enterprise applications, application integration and data.
  • Model the associated financial LRP (long-range plan) including service management performance, people resourcing, capital investment plans and operating expenses.

  • S&IS capital investment planning: informed by the S&IS Enterprise Architecture roadmap, manage the aggregated investment portfolio funnel; evaluate and prioritize annual capital programs and projects.

Annual Plans & Controls


  • Annual budgeting. 
  • Monthly financial analysis, variance analysis and forecasting.
  • Monthly operations reporting (MOR) – performance scorecards.
  • Monthly financial analysis & reporting (MFR) – variance analysis and forecasting.
  • Resource planning: develop and manage activity-based cost models and resource capacity planning, required for AltaLink’s zero-based budgeting requirement.
  • Benefits realization: develop and manage the measurement system for Process Improvement benefit tracking and reporting.

Process Improvement

  • Cross-team process integration processes (e.g., transition capital projects into operations).
  • Innovation and Transformation: planning and leadership of select Transformation initiatives.
  • Sourcing strategies, vendor performance management and scorecard processes.
  • GTA process management and continuous improvement.


 Governance

  • Ensure plans, policies, procedures are consistent with the overall company goals and objectives while meeting compliance requirements.
  • Ensure effective operation of IT controls in compliance with AltaLink’s financial, security and regulatory frameworks.
  • CSOX; inter-affiliate service management, Compliance Plan Committee submissions.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or other related field is preferred. 
  • 12-15 years people leadership and business management experience. 
  • Demonstrated leadership, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to create an inclusive environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills with demonstrated facilitation skills.
  • Ability to integrate and collaborate across IT areas of responsibility.
  • Experience with multiple IT disciplines, such as Application Development, Application Support, IT Infrastructure and Operations, Project Delivery, IT Security, Strategic Planning, Enterprise Architecture. 
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate with and manage third party engagements. 
  • Effective communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes;
  • Strong service management orientation.
