YOUR ROLE AT MIRATERRA
As our Director of Software, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of Miraterra. With the expansion of our product vision and the advent of AI, you will develop our software team's strategy, reconfigure our architecture, and lead the growth of your team as our company scales. We are looking for a visionary leader to build a scalable software team, mentoring and guiding full-time employees, as well as consultants to evolve our architecture and deliver exceptional customer experiences.


You will lead our software development, DevOps, and IT teams, driving flexibility, performance, and reliability while delivering compelling customer experiences. Your expertise will be essential in building and leading a high-performing, mission-aligned team.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Reporting to the VP of Research & Development, the Director of Software will collaborate with a diverse range of friendly and talented colleagues within R&D and across the organization.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

  • Define and execute the software vision, strategy, and roadmap for cloud applications and data pipelines.
  • Promote and implement advanced AI-driven coding tools to accelerate development, and maintain a lean, clean codebase that prioritizes rebuilding over patching.
  • Oversee architecture, design, and quality of applications and data pipelines.
  • Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of cloud-native applications and ML workflows on AWS.
  • Partner with product & other R&D leaders to deliver our product roadmap.
  • Provide scope, complexity assessments, and time estimates for new systems and features.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to build and retain a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability while managing performance and career development
  • Ensure deployed software meets the highest standards of quality, security, compliance, and industry best practices.

WERE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a dynamic leader who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and is passionate about making a tangible impact.

  • Extensive experience (8+ years) of software development experience, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role with demonstrated strategic impact and team growth
  • Demonstrated ability to define, communicate, and execute a comprehensive software vision and roadmap.
  • User-experience focused leader who is passionate about delivering delightful experiences through thoughtful software design and execution.
  • Proven success in building, mentoring, and developing high-performing software teams in a growth-stage environment.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing scalable cloud architectures, microservices, and AWS-based ML infrastructures.
  • Passion for innovation and experience leveraging emerging technologies, particularly in AI, to solve complex problems.
  • Strong experience in web and mobile application development, with an understanding of modern frameworks and development methodologies
  • Deep knowledge of agile methodologies, DevOps best practices, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
  • Experience managing budgets, resource planning, and vendor relationships

WE VALUE, BUT DONT REQUIRE

  • Background in diagnostics or measurement technologies using spectroscopy.
  • Leadership experience in an early-stage startup
  • Deep understanding of AI architectures and frameworks for building agentic systems including autonomous decision-making, multi-agent coordination, and reinforcement learning.

  • Vancouver, Canada (hybrid: minimum 2 days per week in office)

  • $160,000 - $200,000 CAD/annum
