We have an immediate opening for a District Accountant for our Blenheim, Ontario district. As a District Accountant at Waste Connections of Canada, you will be involved with every piece of the accounting cycle. You will support the District Controller in daily accounting tasks in addition to monthly reporting and special projects. You will interact with employees from all aspects of the business including Operations, Sales, Dispatch, Customer Service, and Maintenance. Your success within the role is reliant on an ambitious work ethic, excellent communication and the ability to problem-solve. The key to Waste Connectionsu2019 continued growth and success is sourcing, developing, and promoting individuals who meet these expectations. As a District Accountant with us, the minimum responsibilities are: u2022 Coordinate month-end district close process including billing, preparing key journal entries u2022 Prepare monthly operational and financial reports used for month end and forecast analysis u2022 Assist the Controller in annual budget preparations u2022 Review and approve various items in TRUX system such as cash and adjustment entries entered by Accounts Receivable u2022 Perform cash reconciliations for various payment types including bank reconciliation, intercompany cash payments, and internet bank payments u2022 Prepare district quarterly and annual reporting packages, including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and analysis of key balance sheet sections u2022 Co-ordinate Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as well as other departments involved in admin processes to ensure sound full cycle accounting process u2022 Reconcile accounts payable as well as accounts receivable balances as needed u2022 Assist in annual greenhouse gas emissions reporting u2022 Assist in containers & rolling stock inventory audits (physical count not required by the candidate) u2022 Act as a backup for cash entry and accounts payable u2022 Participate in implementing and maintaining internal control and reporting processes **WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:** u2022 Minimum 1 year of accounting experience u2022 Bachelor''s degree, Business or Accounting Preferred u2022 Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills u2022 Highly organized with attention to detail u2022 Ability to meet tight deadlines and navigate multiple priorities u2022 Intermediate skills in MS Excel u2022 Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements **WHAT YOUu2019LL GET FROM US:** u2022 Competitive Wages u2022 Retirement Plan with company match; let us help you save for your future u2022 Benefits; Medical, Dental, Vision u2022 Perks, perks, perks!
