Driller Assistant

Job Description

Driller Assistants help the Driller obtain core samples, which our clients use for environmental applications and or to design foundations for new buildings, refineries, roads, dams, etc.
On a typical day, the Driller Assistant will work closely with the Driller and the client. The Driller Assistant prepares sampling devices, gives samples to the client, gets augers and other drill tooling for the driller (this involves heavy lifting), and keeps the work area clean by shovelling dirt away from the borehole.
The work is outdoors year-round, in all weather, physically demanding and requires frequent travel. We’re VERY serious about safety, so don’t consider applying if you are the type of person who cuts corners or can’t follow safe work practices.
ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
We’re a growing company with opportunity for advancement. Successful Driller Assistants may have the chance to become Drillers based on performance.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience preferred, but not necessary - will train. Drug and alcohol testing is a mandatory requirement of our clients. If you can’t pass, you can’t work.
A clean driving abstract is required for review prior to hire.
Candidates MUST have flexible schedules and enjoy working out of town frequently. Job sites and hours of work change often. A good driving record is required (no more than 2 tickets, none serious, and NO DUI’s.)
Being on time is a must, as is the ability to work safely as part of a team. Candidates MUST have their own transportation to get to and from our Edmonton office.
Oilfield experience is NOT an asset, due to the very different nature of our work. We are NOT related to the oil and gas industry.
