Early Childhood Educator

Early childhood educators plan, organize, and initiate activities to help children develop and learn intellectually, physically, and emotionally. They work with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarten-age children in a variety of settings. They also build relationships with parents and other professionals.

Government wage enhancement offered on top of hourly wage. Requirements: Level 1,2,3 Early Childhood Educator Certification Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Experience and knowledge in documentation and observation is required.

Program planning based on children’s interest every week. Maintains a reflective, caring, and responsive demeanor towards the children, colleagues, and families. Knowledge of FLIGHT – Alberta early learning and care framework is recommended.

Create an environment that meets the children’s needs, individuality, and autonomy. A good understanding of and appreciation for the early learning and child care profession. A Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within the last ninety days.

A Valid First Aid certificate related to child care, or willing to get one within 3 months of hire. Must be highly energetic, effective, organized, and enthusiastic. Must be able to help children build strong relationships and problem-solving skills.

Provide flexible program planning and encourage lots of outdoor play. Follow and implement health and safety through the use of a variety of tools including daily observation forms, sanitary practices forms, medication forms, and the environmental assessment tools. Establish collaborative relationships within the centre’s management team, colleagues, families, and communities.

Attend staff meetings and professional development as necessary and/or required. Maintain the centre’s cleanliness and organization in classrooms, hallways, and common areas. Perform other duties as assigned.
