Our valued client, a key Oil & Gas client are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their Calgary team on a long-term contract basis. THE OPPORTUNITY: The Electrical Engineer will manage a variety of small to large electrical construction projects by being responsible for ensuring all projects are initiated and executed in a safe, accurate, timely and in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. You will be the electrical technical expert for Field Operations and Facilities.
On projects where unique electrical designs are required you will be responsible to complete the design in-house and expected to follow our APEGA PPMP. On some larger projects where an engineering firm has been selected to do the electrical/civil/mechanical/piping work, you will direct the work of the firm in the design and equipment procurement for electrical facilities and coordinate site construction through onsite Field Construction Coordinators Coordinate the construction/modification of electrical facilities. Use your experience to mark up existing drawings, procure equipment, organize electrical contractors and schedule the work.
Redline the as-built drawing collection, track from the field construction electrical contractor and distribute to Canadian Natural’s drafting department, as well as distributing final corrected as-built drawings and tracking back to field locations Specify high, medium and low voltage equipment for procurement directly by Canadian Natural, plus advise Field Operations and other Facilities team members on equipment selection as required We also have a number of high voltage power projects where if approved we will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction of some transmission lines and substations that support our operations QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for someone with 10 years of related project/facilities industry experience with either a Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology along with a Professional Licensee Designation with APEGA, or a BSc in Electrical Engineering with a Professional Engineer Designation with APEGA. Working knowledge of applicable Guidelines, Directives and Regulations with regards to the Environment, Safety, Canadian Electrical Code, and the Alberta Safety Codes Act. Proficiency with Microsoft word-processing and spreadsheet applications Please note there is anywhere up to 25 percent travel for this role.
