Electrical Project Manager

We are currently seeking an Electrical Project Manager to join a company who is a leading force in electrical initiatives throughout Alberta with a focus on shallow utility construction, street lighting, traffic signals, and utility party trenching . You will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and delivery of assigned projects. This role involves ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and meeting the required scope and quality specifications.

The successful candidate will maintain existing client relationships, drive client satisfaction, and effectively communicate with project stakeholders Responsibilities: Project Leadership: Oversee the management, coordination, and successful delivery of assigned projects. Safety and Quality: Ensure projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and meeting scope and quality specifications. Client Communication: Maintain strong relationships with clients and manage their expectations throughout the project lifecycle.

Reporting: Provide routine progress reports to senior management. Project Setup: Initiate project setup after award and estimate handoff. Ensure project team, budget, and documentation are in place for effective kick-off.

Scheduling and Cost Management: Develop and maintain project execution plans, critical risk paths, and milestones schedules. Monitor construction schedules and job costs. Coordination: Manage project material, equipment, and subcontract activities to ensure timely completion and clear expectations for team members.

Change Management: Proactively document and approve changes impacting cost, schedule, or scope. Communicate changes effectively. Documentation: Maintain project records, including execution plans, risk registers, RFI logs, change order logs, and more.

Budget Adherence: Manage project expenditures and align resource projections. Accounts Processing: Ensure timely handling of accounts receivable and payable invoices. Meeting Facilitation: Lead project meetings, including kick-offs, updates, change orders, recovery plans, and lessons learned.

Quality and Safety: Maintain awareness of quality, acceptance requirements, safety, and environmental considerations. Project Closeout: Coordinate project closeout and conduct post-mortems for continuous improvement. Qualifications and Skills: Electrical Experience: Strongly preferred, especially for Journeyman electricians.

PMP Designation: Considered an asset. Construction Management: 3-5 years of experience managing medium to large full-cycle construction projects. Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with shallow utility construction, street lighting, traffic signals, or utility party trenching a requirement.

Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to tackle complex challenges and find effective solutions. Team Management: Experience leading diverse teams in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. Contract Review and Negotiation: Sound knowledge of reviewing and negotiating contracts for construction projects, with a strong understanding of technical, business, financial, and legal aspects.

Positive Attitude and Team Player: Approach tasks with optimism and collaborate effectively with colleagues. Time Management and Documentation: Strong organizational skills to manage project timelines and maintain accurate records. Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication abilities.

Software Proficiency: Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office Excel/Project applications. Previous experience with project management software, with the ability to quickly learn new tools. Driver’s License: Valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract/driving record required.
