Cost Estimator
Job Purpose: Responsible for preparing and coordinating RFQs for materials, components, and services based on departmental requirements. Analyze quotations, prepare cost analyses, define needs, clarify discrepancies, and determine BOM structure. Monitor RFQ processes, resolve issues, generate costed BOMs, and document costs and issues. May also track technology trends and prepare cost reduction recommendations.
Nature of Duties:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Calculating material costs
- Estimating potential outsourcing of products
- Assisting in determining labor costs
- Monitoring and updating material costs to remain competitive
- Supporting other plant resources as needed
- Collaborating with Engineering to ensure raw materials meet specifications
- Reviewing Bills of Material periodically for accuracy
- Researching products and pricing for bids
- Coordinating with Sales and Engineering to ensure clear communication
- Viewing 3D models for data retrieval
- Setting up quote meetings with technical teams
Education and Experience:
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and accounting software
- Experience working with customers
- Background in manufacturing environments
- Experience with CAD software like SolidWorks a plus
- Experience with Plastic Injection Molding a plus
