Experienced Housekeeper Wanted in Calgary, Alberta – $25/hr

I am looking for an experienced domestic cleaner to maintain my elderly father’s 2 bedroom/2 bathroom 800sqft condo in SW Calgary. The initial clean would be more intensive, with routine cleaning to follow every 14 days. Initial meeting Nov. 13 with first clean at earliest possible date thereafter.

Cleaning tasks would include:
— Dust control as a priority (it shows up rapidly on dark furniture and the dark vinyl plank floor of the living room. Soft furnishings and bedroom carpets will need vacuuming)
— Cleaning of the highest traffic areas (mopping of tile floors in front entryway and kitchen and wipedown of kitchen appliances, occasional descaling of the kettle). Dad does his own cooking, dishes and fridge maintenance.
— Typical bathroom cleaning (toilets, mirrors, sinks and faucets, tile floor etc.) with special attention/application of vinegar (?) to the glass shower doors which show hard water deposits
— Oversight of the garbage/recycling system. Dad deals with his own garbage and recycling but if garbage is full please take it out.
— Occasional window cleaning in the living room (heavy traffic on Bow Trail throws up dust, making them appear dingy)
— Occasional laundry/changing of Dad’s bed linen. There is an in suite washer and dryer. Dad doesn’t generate much laundry but needs help changing his bed, perhaps once a month.
— General tidying/organizational intervention. I wish Dad would let you organize and discard things he has lying around but he may not. You may just have to scoop into baskets counter debris, pill bottles off the dining table, toiletries off the bathroom vanity, papers off the floor by his chair etc. to allow you to access surfaces for cleaning, and then replace them when done, slightly more neatly.

We can have cleaning supplies and equipment in the apartment for you, so you don’t have to carry them up from your car which will be parked in the visitor’s section of the underground garage. Or you can arrive on foot as the location is well served by transit. We will have to arrange entry for you from the garage to the main building and then to Dad’s unit.

Any requests you have should be communicated to me through text, email or phone, and payment would come from me through interac etransfer. I live out of province though I do spend long stretches in Calgary with Dad. Dad is quite competent but very deaf, so direct communication with him is difficult.

We are offering $25 as an approximate hourly rate. Actually we are hoping to spend about $75/visit. This is based on our assumption that it will take about 2-3 hours to clean the whole apartment.

We would value an applicant who is reliable, trustworthy, experienced, attentive to detail, pleasant and professional. Experience with maintaining a home for senior clientele or with cleaning other units within the Westgate towers would be an asset. Please be prepared to provide 2-3 past clients who we can contact for a reference.
