<br>Position Summary:
Reporting to the HOD, Manager PIC, the Facility & Security Coordinator (Security Guard) will be responsible for safeguarding company assets, personnel, and property at our Markham warehouse and office facilities.
 
This role involves monitoring access points, conducting regular indoor and outdoor patrols, responding to security incidents, and overseeing CCTV and alarm systems. The position also supports administrative and facility coordination tasks under the Facility & Security Administrator to maintain a safe, compliant, and well-managed workplace. The ideal candidate will be reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while maintaining professionalism in interactions with employees, visitors, and contractors.
 
Key Responsibilities: <br><br>
Access Control & Monitoring:<ul><li>Supervise and record entry and exit of employees, contractors, and visitors, ensuring proper authorization.</li><li>Operate and monitor CCTV, access control, and alarm systems for real-time incident response.</li><li>Maintain accurate logs of visitor passes, vehicle movements, and deliveries.</li><li>Respond promptly to alarms, access card issues, and security notifications.</li></ul>
<br>Patrol & Incident Response:<ul><li>Conduct regular patrols of indoor and outdoor areas, including warehouse, office, docks, and perimeter zones.</li><li>Inspect gates, doors, fences, and equipment to ensure proper security and functioning.</li><li>Identify and report potential hazards, unsafe conditions, or suspicious activities.</li><li>Support emergency evacuations, first aid, and other incident responses in coordination with internal teams and authorities.</li></ul>
<br>Safety & Compliance:<ul><li>Enforce corporate policies on visitor access, PPE, and restricted zones.</li><li>Assist during fire drills, inspections, and life-safety system checks.</li><li>Support compliance with the Ontario Fire Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and local building requirements.</li><li>Communicate effectively with police, fire, and emergency responders when necessary.</li></ul>
<br>Administrative & Facility Support:<ul><li>Maintain detailed daily security and incident reports.</li><li>Manage key control, access card issuance, and recordkeeping.</li><li>Assist with basic facility coordination tasks such as courier management, vendor escorting, or inspection documentation.</li><li>Support the Facility & Security Administrator on various administrative assignments, ensuring operational continuity and compliance.</li></ul>
 
Work Requirements:<ul><li>Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment, on call during weekend, holidays and night for emergency response. </li></ul>
 
Required Competencies:<ul><li>Minimum two years of post-secondary education.</li><li>1-3 years of experience in corporate, warehouse, or industrial security preferred. Experience operating and maintaining CCTV, access control, and alarm systems. Familiarity with basic facility maintenance, safety procedures, and vendor coordination considered an asset.</li><li>Strong situational awareness and ability to identify security risks.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication; able to document incidents clearly.</li><li>High reliability, accountability, and sense of ownership.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).</li><li>Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.</li></ul>
<br>Licenses and Certifications:<ul><li>Valid Ontario Security Guard License issued by service Ontario. </li><li>Valid First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification (mandatory).</li><li>WHMIS or Fire Safety Awareness training considered an asset.</li></ul>
