Field Service Technician - Variable Frequency Drives

The Opportunity:
Our client is part of a major Canadian industrial services and supply organisation, and we are pleased to be supporting their Western Canada operations with the addition of a Variable Frequency Drive Field Technician. They are leaders in their space, and have many accolades as an employer.
In this role you will be responsible for providing quality work, service and technical support to end customers by travelling throughout the assigned service area in Western Canada. Day to day you will be testing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and reconditioning all power related products sold by our client to a range of industries vital to Canada's economy.
The successful candidate will need to be able to drive, as well having a valid passport enabling them to receive supplier training in the USA.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Inspecting, testing, optimizing, maintaining and troubleshooting customers’ power components (VFDs)
- Communicating with equipment owners for authorization of servicing and repairs as required
- Interpreting engineering designs, drawings, wiring diagrams and specifications for relevant components
- Supporting sales teams by providing technical information, creating evaluation reports, and referring opportunities
- Servicing and repairing equipment in house and on-site for the customer
- Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with customers
- Communicating equipment servicing needs as required with Branch Supervisor/Manager
- Communicating work performed and completing service paperwork in a timely manner
- Participating in manufacturers’ and in house service training
- Participating in all required Health & Safety Training, and complying with practices
- Working with Manufacturers online support
- Maintaining a professional company image at all times
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
- Two-year technical diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years experience in a related position working on VFD or related power products
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with customers independently
- Exceptional customer service
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, analysis and problem-solving skills
- Valid passport and ability to travel to the USA
