With established operations in Bonnyville, Alberta, and a newly opened office/shop in Edmonton, we are seeking a highly organized and forward-thinking Financial Analyst to join our team and play a key role in our continued growth.
Position Summary:
The Financial Analyst will be responsible for overseeing the administrative operations of the Edmonton shop, supporting the company’s accounting functions for all operations, and supporting the VP of Finance on strategic initiatives. This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual with strong accounting knowledge and administrative skills. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, the Financial Analyst will ensure efficient and accurate financial processes while supporting the day-to-day operations of the Edmonton office/shop.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Management:
- Oversee and manage the administrative functions of the Edmonton shop.
- Coordinate office operations, supplies, and equipment maintenance to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Act as the primary point of contact for administrative inquiries in the Edmonton office.
- Manage vehicle registrations and renewals.
- Handle the shop’s landline phone calls, ensuring appropriate forwarding or handling of shipping, delivery, and work requests.
ERP/Back Office Systems:
- Play a lead role in implementing and optimizing new ERP/Back Office systems, to support the company’s growth and manage its operations
Accounting Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable (AP), including invoice entry, payments, and vendor reconciliations.
- Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Handle vacation pay tracking and reporting.
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Troubleshoot QBO processes, account reconciliations, and general accounting issues.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for review by the VP of Finance.
- Accept payments into QBO and address related issues.
- Manage credit card reconciliations and processing in accounting system
Strategic Initiatives:
- Work directly with the VP, Finance on Strategic Initiatives that the company is executing on as part of its overall growth plan.
- The individual in this role will gain significant exposure to supporting and managing a company going through rapid growth and the financing strategy that supports that. They will play a lead role in the design and implementation of the “back-office” required to support aggressive growth.
Insurance and Compliance:
- Handle Company and Employee Insurance programs, including adding and removing employees and making updates/changes as required for the business.
- Manage Alberta and Saskatchewan WCB requirements, such as annual returns and payroll statements.
Vendor and Supplier Management:
- Complete setup paperwork for new suppliers/vendors.
- Ensure smooth interactions and document handling with vendors.
Administrative and Employee Support:
- Book hotels for employees as needed.
- Receive, sort, and forward lettermail and emails to the appropriate parties.
- Provide accounting and administrative support to troubleshoot issues and answer questions.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in business/finance/accounting, CPA or pursuing a CPA an asset
- Proven experience in finance/accounting roles, preferably in the oil and gas or service industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with payroll systems and processes.
- Knowledge of Alberta’s employment standards and tax regulations is preferred.
