As a key member of the Finance team, the Financial Controller will lead a team of five individuals with two direct reports and oversee all financial, tax, treasury and ESG reporting activities at ORLEN Upstream Canada. What will you do?: Review the monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements including notes and related supporting documentation Oversee all accounts, ledgers, consolidation processes and financial reporting to ensure compliance with appropriate standards and regulatory requirements Review and approve all standard and complex financial entries (accruals, DD&A, ARO, FIT, etc.) Review monthly account reconciliations, internal reporting packages and the monthly financial data submission to ORLEN Upstream Canada’s parent company via consolidated financial reporting system (Hyperion) Review and approve bank reconciliations, GST returns and non-resident returns Support the Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant and other team members with the annual financial audit Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership informed of ORLEN Upstream Canada’s financial status Review, test and recommend improvements to internal controls and processes Prepare the annual corporate tax returns and manage all associated compliance activities, including tax audits that may arise Manage treasury and the cash management function while supporting the CFO in forecasting cash flow/liquidity Oversee and support ESG and related regulatory reporting Assist with the annual budgeting and planning process; along with Operations Accounting, administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate Support the Sr.
Financial Reporting Accountant in reviewing contracts and complex transactions for financial reporting impacts Support the CFO with presentations to the board, parent company and other key stakeholders while working closely with the senior leadership team Ad hoc duties and projects as required Team Leadership: Leverage strengths of current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities, develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals Provide leadership in strengthening internal communication with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment Commitment to mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team of finance professionals Continuously monitor and analyze the financial department to optimize procedures and processes, ensuring a high level of accuracy for all key accounting deliverables How will you be successful?: CPA designation with a minimum of eight years post-designation accounting and financial reporting experience in the Canadian upstream oil and natural gas industry Minimum of four years leading and managing a team of finance professionals Experience with International Financial Reporting Standards and ESG reporting Ideal candidate should possess a foundational knowledge of Canadian tax and related issues Detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and time management skills Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to work well both independently and with individuals in all departments of the organization Excellent analytical skills, problem solving, and decision-making capability Ability to work in a deadline driven environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and experience with Pandell JV (formerly JVNexus) and Hyperion is considered an asset J-18808-Ljbffr
