Job Summary:

As the Financial Reporting Manager, you will be responsible for the oversight, review and analysis of the Properties’ Group financial results while maintaining and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data for both internal and external stakeholders. You will also support the Senior Manager in overseeing key financial reconciliations, monitoring and enforcing financial controls and procedures and providing analytical support.

As a subject matter expert, you will develop innovative solutions, proactively resolve complex issues, and lead initiatives that optimize financial performance. You will support, train and provide guidance to the junior accountant and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting to external partners. Your expertise in interpreting financial data will be critical in identifying issues while also supporting the Senior Manager in recommending actionable change to drive continuous improvement in financial reporting and operations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Leads the development of financial reporting for real estate development, management and disposition activities for external stakeholders (eg. lenders, partners, etc) ensuring compliance with standards and alignment with organizational goals
  • Oversees the preparation, consolidation, and reconciliation of financial statements related to real estate development and property management, ensuring completeness and compliance
  • Execute key month-end journal entries for long-term debt, asset and partnership dispositions, investment and operations including invoice approval, asset amortization, and reconciliations
  • Reviews financial results for accuracy, consolidate data across business units, and provide financial analysis to identify key issues and recommend improvements
  • Serves as the primary liaison with auditors during the annual audit and tax process, ensuring accurate and timely submission of financial documentation
  • Leads financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement, standardize reporting procedures, provide training and guidance to junior accountant, and collaborate with senior management on operational and financial planning


Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years in an accounting/finance environment with at least 2 years of industry experience.
  • Exposure to the real estate industry an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • CPA required
  • Background of financial statement consolidation and annual year-end exposure
  • Strong understanding of ASPE and IFRS
  • Large ERP experience an asset (i.e. JDE and Hyperion Financial Management)
  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail and ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, management, and organization skills
  • Works independently, manages multiple tasks, and sets priorities.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • Advanced computer skills using accounting / job costing software
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, with expert knowledge of Excel
