As per the management agreement between the Rockland Park Homeowners Association (RPHOA) and Brookfield Residential (Alberta) Ltd., the General Manager is an employee of the RPHOA and will report to the Manager, Residents Associations, Brookfield Residential. The General Manager will be responsible for the operational planning and launch of the future Lodge in Rockland Park (opening in late 2024); in addition to creating and supporting the vision of the HOA in alignment to the Brookfield Residential vision of creating healthy communities and exceling in the realm of Customer Experience. On top of stewarding the strategic vision, the General Manager will manage the daily operations including customer experience, community engagement, maintenance, administration, governance, communications, reputations management, social media, rentals and programming of the Rockland Park Lodge (including an outdoor pool), the grounds and other areas under the umbrella of the RPHOA.
Without limiting the generality of the foregoing the General Manager will be responsible for the following functions:
Leadership, Development and Customer Experience
Provide hands on leadership and mentoring of staff;
Cultivate a culture of exceptional customer experience with protocols in place to measure
Initiate and oversee development and implementation of projects and programs to enhance customer engagement and customer experience;
Create goals and performance measures to be incorporated into the strategic plan;
Recruit, supervise, schedule and terminate staff;
Ensure delivery of best in class programs and services that align with expectations of members;
Management of online reputations – ensure google/facebook reviews are monitored and communications plan in place to respond.
Prepare and manage the annual operating budget and monthly cash forecasts;
Prepare and review payroll;
Maintain membership status, invoicing, and collections.
Not for Profit Governance
Organize, attend, and participate in Board meetings and Annual General Meetings;
Main contact between the Board of Directors and community members;
Establish effective relationships with key stakeholders and other partners;
Prepare managerial and administrative reports;
Maintain various policy and procedure manuals;
Ensure the Association is compliant with pertinent legislation.
Facility Operations
Work towards obtaining the Certificate of Recognition (COR) safety standard;
Ensure operations and maintenance plans are executed to a professional standard;
Assist with preparing and maintaining operations and maintenance plans for the building, equipment, and landscaping;
Scheduling operations of and for the building within approved limits;
Maintain safety, operations, and procedure manuals.
Must Haves:
· Post-secondary education in Recreation Management, Business Administration or closely related field of study and/or equivalent management experience
· 5+ years progressive experience in leadership role
· Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a culture of exceptional customer experience
· Demonstrated ability in increasing revenue and membership benefits
· Strong leadership, management and coaching skills along with an extensive knowledge of financial and project management
· Ability to research, compile reports and make recommendations
· Ability to establish effective relationships with key stakeholders and partners
· Familiar with appropriate legislation (Occupations health & Safety, Employment Standards, Privacy Act, etc.)
· Pool operations experience is an asset
· CPR and First Aid Training

The RPHOA is a not-for-profit corporation whose purpose is to manage, maintain, and operate the HOA amenities. The RPHOA will own, operate, and maintain the Rockland Park Lodge, a 4,750 sq. ft. exclusive community lifestyle centre that is situated on a 4-acre site. The main building will be the primary entrance into the park and will include multi-use rooms, a kitchenette, gathering spaces, and family-friendly change rooms and showers. The exclusive park will provide activities for all seasons with an outdoor swimming pool that includes a 25-meter lap pool and family-friendly zero entry area, pool side cabanas, hot tub (year round), playground, central fire pit and gathering area, casual skate/adventure trail, hockey rink/basketball/modular skateboard area, pickleball courts, and amphitheatre. The RPHOA is open 365 days per year.
