Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a General Manager to join our client local to Edmonton, AB in the rail support services industry. This is a full-time permanent role that will require you to be on-site in Edmonton, AB Monday to Friday. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 10-years’ experience working in the rail industry, working as a Conductor, Locomotive Engineer, Supervisor and Superintendent. This role will oversee 3 Superintendents at various sites and be customer facing for contract negotiation, business development and identifying service needs to enhance customer operations. From an operational standpoint, you will be implementing and maintaining safety programs for compliance, work with the site superintendents to optimize operational efficiencies and oversee budgets.

Must Haves

  • 10+ years’ experience in a management capacity within the rail industry
  • Previous experience working as a rail Conductor, Locomotive Engineer, Supervisor and/or Superintendent
  • Experience overseeing and implementing safety programs and procedures within the rail industry
  • Strong customer facing experience for contract negotiation/renewal, business development and overall customer satisfaction
  • Proven ability to develop and implement rail strategies to optimize procedures
  • Good financial acumen to establish and oversee annual budgets to ensure capital expenses are staying within budgets
