Genetic Counsellor, Maritime Medical Genetics
Permanent, full‑time position at IWK Health, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Start date February 02, 2026.
The Opportunity
Genetic counsellors provide information, support and counselling to individuals and families affected by genetic disorders or at risk for inherited conditions. At IWK Health, the Maritime Medical Genetics Service delivers comprehensive genetics services across the Maritime Provinces. The role involves adult and pediatric general genetics service, with potential expansion to other practice areas as clinical needs evolve.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 7.5‑hour shifts.
Your Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Genetic Counselling and certification by the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors or the American Board of Genetic Counselling.
- Experience working in a similar position preferred.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in another language an asset.
