EIPS is recruiting a full-time Generating Occupational, Academic and Life Skills (GOALS) Program Teacher at F.R. Haythorne Junior High. F.R.

Haythorne Junior High serves approximately 620 students in grades 7 to 9, with 33 teaching staff and 15 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB. Character education, citizenship and student leadership are integral to the F.R.

Haythorne experience. Staff, administration, and the parent community maintain very high academic and behavioural expectations for students attending the school, and the school has established a consistent emphasis on maximizing student achievement. Commencing August 27, 2024 Open to internal and external applicants, priority will be given to EIPS teachers who hold a continuous contract and meet the minimum requirements of the position.

The Generating Occupational, Academic and Life Skills (GOALS) Program is a specialized system program designed to meet the needs of students identified with mild cognitive (intellectual) disabilities. The focus of the program is to improve academic and independent living skills within a positive and supportive learning environment. Qualifications: Bachelor of Education degree Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate Knowledge and training of the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment Kits and their meaningful implementation in the classroom, used to guide instruction Effective organization and classroom management skills Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged Excellent verbal and written skills Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction Strong collaboration and teamwork skills Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training Understanding of Trauma Informed Classroom strategies For further information, contact Lana Lastiwka, Principal, at 780-467-3800 or email lana.lastiwka@eips.ca.
