To learn more about AEMA, follow the link to https://www.alberta.ca/alberta-emergency-management-agency.aspx For more information, visit https://www.alberta.ca/transportation-and-economic-corridors Reporting to the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Lead, the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting the development, implementation, coordination and continuous improvement of the Government of Alberta’s HIRA program.
The HIRA Analyst provides research, analysis and advice in the area of hazard, risk and vulnerability analysis, enterprise risk management, and emergency management, with the overarching goal of strengthening the Government of Alberta’s disaster risk identification, risk assessment, and disaster risk reduction and resilience capacity. The HIRA Analyst will liaise and consult with stakeholders, both internal and external, and support the HIRA Team’s involvement in working groups and engagements with these stakeholders. They will also be required to support discussions with municipal stakeholders and ensure that questions or concerns that may arise as a result of AEMA’s work in the development and implementation of a provincial HIRA.
Through research and evaluation of practices and frameworks in other jurisdictions, the HIRA Analyst will provide advice on issues, initiatives, and regulatory frameworks to identify leading practice and areas that make require changes and/or improvement. The HIRA Analyst will also: Support the work associated with the development and implementation of a cross-ministry HIRA program. Research and scanning to support and inform the development and maintenance of the HIRA framework.
Analyze research to ensure that the HIRA framework is well considered and supported. Provide assistance to other GOA departments and municipalities that are completing their own HIRA assessments and developing risk mitigation strategies. Facilitate HIRA courses.

Qualifications Required: University graduation in a related field (Business, Public Administration, Arts or Humanities) plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience or equivalent as described below.
Equivalencies: 1 years of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year education. Assets: Previous risk management or policy analysis experience. Previous business services or business support (non-administrative) experience.
