These structures are in use at over 900 locations serving the education, accommodation, telecommunication, quick service restaurant and oil & gas sectors. We are currently expanding into the Residential, Hotel and Agricultural Grow industries.
Role Description We seek a diligent and experienced HSE Advisor to join our team. In this key role, you will help the company maintain compliance with company and legislative requirements. This position would also manage the company’s SMS (safety management system) through SiteDocs.
Location: This role is office & plant based at our 135,000 square feet manufacturing facility 20 minutes North of Calgary in Crossfield, Alberta, strategically located near a High Load Corridor which allows us to transport loads up to 9 meters high to many parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan, BC, and the United States. Our employees live in Calgary, Airdrie and surrounding communities. Responsibilities Support Modus team members in day-to-day safety efforts (safety meetings, training, etc.) Perform facility and equipment inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Conduct new hire orientations for employees and contractors. Facilitate the online Health and Safety Management System through SiteDocs, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility. Track and ensure follow-up on action items from investigations, inspections, and audits.
Conduct regular monthly/weekly safety meetings to promote awareness and discuss safety issues. Coordinate and facilitate Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings, ensuring active participation and effective outcomes. Participate in the COR (Certificate of Recognition) audit process, preparing documentation and facilitating interviews.
Develop, review, and revise Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) to mitigate risks associated with job tasks. Support supervision with the company’s competency program. Coordinate and maintain required training for all workers.
Ensure all regulatory requirements related to health and safety are identified, communicated, and maintained. Maintain and update the Health and Safety Manual to reflect current regulations and company policies. Facilitate and maintain sub-contractor management program and ensure on-site subcontractor compliance with company policies and procedures.
WCB case management process from initial report to closure. Conduct thorough incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions. Maintain Monthly safety statistics Attend monthly Safety Meetings Ability to report on the efficiency and utilization metrics in the business.
Participate in inspections when given the chance. Encourage the OHS Rights – Right to Know, Right to Participate and Right to Refuse Qualifications & Experience A National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is required. Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is considered an asset. Proven experience in WCB case management, incident investigations, and conducting facility/equipment inspections. Experience on a Joint Health and Safety Committee with current training or willing to complete training.
Strong knowledge of Alberta health and safety legislation. Experience with online health and safety management systems, preferably SiteDocs. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levels. Experience in facilitating safety meetings. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Proficient in MS Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
