About the Opportunity


This is a pivotal leadership role for a people-first HR professional who thrives in moments of growth and change. As Director of People & Culture, you will guide the evolution of a national, mission-driven organization with approximately 120 employees across Canada and additional team members internationally. Your work will directly shape how people experience their workplace, their leaders, and the culture that connects them.


Reporting to the CFO and partnering closely with the senior leadership team, you will lead the People & Culture function with clarity, compassion, and strategic focus. This organization operates in the non-profit and humanitarian space, where values, trust, and thoughtful communication matter deeply. You will lead a dedicated team of six and help rebuild momentum, engagement, and confidence following a period of organizational change.

Your Responsibilities



  • You’ll set the strategic direction for People & Culture, aligning people initiatives with organizational goals.

  • In this role, you’ll lead employee engagement and culture-building efforts, closing communication gaps and strengthening connection across teams.

  • You’ll advise senior leaders on change management, workforce planning, and people-related risk.

  • You’ll oversee HR operations including policies, compliance, compensation maintenance, and performance frameworks.

  • You’ll lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing People & Culture team.


Skills and Qualifications



  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience.

  • Proven leadership experience managing HR teams and influencing senior stakeholders.

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and compliance.

  • Demonstrated success in culture-building, employee engagement, and change leadership.

  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Post-secondary education in HR or Business Administration, CHRP or CHRL is an asset.
